Basically I'm talking about my summer. It has been a wild adventure to say the least. As I mentioned in my last post (which is also the only post I've made all summer do to general laziness) I spent the summer in the nation's capital, Washington D.C. (actually just outside of it in Maryland, a mere metro ride away). So where should I begin?
Well obviously I can just start with the beginning of the summer. After finishing a mini-term at school, I made a quick drive back home to spend a day with my family and unload some things I wouldn't be needing. Then my sister and I set off on a road trip that would take us from here to Maryland (almost coast to coast). It took three hard days driving, but we were able to save money by staying with family on the way out there so it wasn't too bad.
After we made it out there, my sister spend the remainder of the week touring DC with us before she flew home on Saturday. We went to places like Mount Vernon, the National Zoo, made a trip to the Natural History Museum to watch Night at the Museum 2 on an IMAX screen, went to the National Archives, etc. We packed a lot in for the three days we had there. It was a little difficult coming off of the long drive with little sleep but we made it work and had a great time doing it.
Then comes the post-Chelsea time of the summer. This is where the real work of finding a job began. After about a week of searching I finally found a place that was willing to interview me and I was hired. It's really hard to explain what it is I did though.... It basically boiled down to these three words: I sell knives. Yeah...I know. Sounds really weird. If you must know I work for a company called Vector Marketing selling Cutco. They advertised a flexible job for college students and it hasn't turned out to be that bad so far.
As far as other highlights for my summer, I was able to check out so much more of DC than can even be seen in a week. I was surprised with tickets to VGL as well as many other things.
Now we are at the end of the summer. I once again spent three days driving across the country, this time with Erin, to spend the last week of the summer at my house before going back to school for another year. Bottom line: I would do it all over again if given the choice. There just isn't anything quite like it.
